Sangamam- A Global Handloom Conference

The WICCI Handloom Council- Interwoven Identities is extremely happy to present “SANGAMAM” : ‘Revisiting the art of Hand Weaving and Natural Dying’, which is envisaged as a 2-day Conference.
Most sectors have to keep pace with the growing needs of the customers and the Textile sector is no exception.
Change is inevitable but challenging and Evolution is a continuous process.
India’s legacy of ‘Hand Weaving’ and expertise in ‘Natural Dyes’ dates back to ancient times, and prevails as a living craft and tradition, with creative master dyers of the old world, who practice completely sustainable systems.
Indian artisans have readily adapted to evolving changes, conscious of their environment and its sustainability.
To “Revisit” what is still possible and can be practiced, an International Conference, including workshops, presentations, demonstrations, exhibition and sales is to be held on 9th & 10th of February 2024.
The title of the event “Sangamam” – meaning – Coming together or Confluence, aims to sensitize the people and young minds, will bring together artisans, experts, scholars, students and specialists from across the continent to explore, and expound the story and history of ‘Hand Weaving and Natural Dyeing’ and its various applications.
Skills & experiences from the past to the present, in the journey towards a sustainable future, will be shared.
Tamil Nadu, a southern state of India, rich in cultural heritage, will be wonderful to present this Conclave.
